Web - IIS and ServletExec Integration

Purpose:

Instructions for Installing FME Server where an IIS Webserver and ServletExec TranslationServlet are to host FME Server. The instructions only relate to the installation of Servlet Exec/AS, ServletExec ISAPI requires a different series of installation steps.

Initial Steps:

- Ensure Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.5.x or higher is installed

- Install IIS. This setup assumes Microsoft IIS 6.0 is installed and running. If you are using IIS 7.0 or 5.0 then further configuration is required, please refer to Chapter 3.53 (http://www.newatlanta.com/products/servletexec/self_help/docs/6_0/ServletExec%206.0%20Installation%20Guide.pdf) of the SevletExec installation manual.



Installation of ServletExec

  • Run the ServletExec 6.0 installation file.
  • When it prompts you to select a web server, choose Microsoft IIS.
  • Leave the default port at 8888.
  • Following the installation of ServletExec, stop the servlet exec service from running.
  • Download the ServletExec60.JAR file and replace the JAR file in the lib folder: <Install DIR>\New Atlanta\ServletExec AS\lib. (If the downloaded file is a zip file, please just rename it to jar file.)



Installation of FME Server

  • When it asks for location of the webapps folder, select here: <INSTALL DIR>\New Atlanta\ServletExec AS\se-<hostname>\webapps\default
  • Web and servlet both port 80.
  • Do NOT restart the host when the FME Server is successfully installed, please run the following post installation first. <FME Server INSTALL DIR>\Install\Services\ServletExec\install.bat.
  • Restart the host.
