Q) Can we read/write to DWG/DXF and DWF interchangeably?

A) Yes. Though AutoCAD to my knowledge only 'publishes' or writes DWF from DWG/DXF, FME can also convert DWF files to DWG/DXF files. Note that some complex entities such as blocks and text will have simplified graphical only representations.
