AreaCurveFitter is a Workbench Transformer.

CurveFitter and AreaCurvefitter Transformers are based on polyline optimizer technology licensed from TCI Corporation (http://www.tcicorp.com/). They are available for FME 2007 as an extra-cost item.

The Curvefitter transformers smooth lines derived from line segments, points or raster data, and replace large numbers of vertices (points or line segments) with arcs. This process can significantly increase the accuracy of surveyed lines, provide a truer representation of real-world features, and allow lines and arcs to be joined into one entity (path).

At the same time, file sizes can be reduced by up to 80% - a great benefit when the data is intended for visualization or download over the Internet.
